Description

Due to growth and expansion; we are looking for compassionate, positive and creative therapeutic carers that are aligned with our goal of changing children’s lives. Driving is an essential part of this role so a driver’s license is essential.

TRAINING TO BE PROVIDED

The successful candidate will work towards a level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner qualification.

Timeout Children's Homes is a family run organisation which provides one to one therapeutic residential childcare for children aged 6 - 17 years who have suffered abuse and neglect in their lives. We were established in 2004 and have since grown organically and safely, to provide only outstanding or good services.

Roles & Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

  • Providing one to one therapeutic care for children aged 6-17 who are from a background of trauma and neglect.
  • To be responsible for the physical, social and emotional well-being of the child/children.
  • To participate in children’s daily routines (therefore access to a car and driving license is essential for the role).
  • Working holistically with care, education and therapy to achieve the best possible outcomes for the child.
  • Working with a team and manager to ensure the children in your care to ensure positive outcomes for children.
  • Ensuring all Safeguarding responsibilities are met.
  • Maintaining appropriate and accurate records and reports.

Skills Required

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Ideally, you’ll have some experience of caring for young people with emotional difficulties or challenging behaviours, however, what we are essentially looking for is someone with a genuine desire to develop and progress a career in this sector with us. We have helped develop people with no experience to achieve some unbelievable outcomes for children through the strong relationships they have formed.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a dedicated team.
  • Flexibility to work on a rolling rota basis over 365 days per year (this may include bank holiday’s and weekends).
  • A valid enhanced DBS, or willingness to undertake a DBS check.
  • A respectful, courteous and compassionate nature.
  • Open and honest approach with a growth mindset.
  • Basic IT skills and familiar with MS Office
  • Willingness and ability to complete sleep-in shifts and occasional waking night where required.
  • A valid driving license and vehicle for work purposes.
  • A minimum of Grade D (or equivalent) in Math’s and English.
  • Are over the age 0f 21 (this is a Genuine Occupational Qualification in line with the Equality Act 2010 and Ofsted Standards and Regulations).

Candidates will be required to apply for a DBS certificate which will be reimbursed by Timeout upon successful probationary period. The successful candidate will be responsible for the DBS update service subscription cost (currently £13.00 per year).

Working Days

165 hours per month; Shifts are a total of 24 hours (16.5 hours of working time + sleep in duties). You will likely be required to work a rota of 2 on 4 off (totalling 10/11 shifts per month); meaning you are on shift for 48 hours. Shifts will be provided on a rota basis. Rotas are released with six weeks notice. The role requires flexibility in order to meet the needs and requirements of our model of care.

Qualifications Required

Must have willingness to undertake a Level 4 apprenticeship in Children, Young People and families practitioner. Minimum of Grade D (or equivalent) in Math’s and English

Future Prospects

Discussion of a permanent contract upon completion of the apprenticeship.
