Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Calderdale College is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The non-compliances and exemptions are listed below.
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Focus indication is hard to make out on some of the filtering options including the checkboxes. This fails WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible (AA). We are currently working on this issue to ensure focus indication is clear on all elements of the site.
Our keyword and location filter labels are only visible as placeholder text rather than permanent labels. This fails WCAG 3.3.2 Labels and Instructions (A). We are in the process of making the labels visible at all times.
There are various contrast failures across our website pages. These fail WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (AA). We are in the process of changing our colours to ensure contrast passes the requirements.
Some areas of the website are not completable by screen reader users such as the job application forms. This fails WCAG 1.3.5 Identify Input Purpose (AA). We are in the process of fixing this issue to ensure all users can complete the application form. If you need the form in another format please contact us on 01422 357 357.
If a user incorrectly completes the contact us form, there is a visual error message, but this is not read out or focussed to for screen reader users. In addition, fields are not clearly marked as mandatory. This fails WCAG 3.3.1 Error Identification (A) and 3.3.3 Error Suggestion (AA). We are currently in the process of fixing this issue.
At this time, we have made no claims of disproportionate burden.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
